The network covers Bolivia within the South America region. Payslips there are drawn up in BOB, and dealings with a local firm are conducted in Spanish.
The business centres where the network is looking for a correspondent as a priority are La Paz, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Cochabamba, Sucre.
The country lies outside the European Union and outside the European Economic Area: the A1 certificate has no standing there. Whether the employee remains in the scheme of origin then depends on the bilateral social security agreement, if any, concluded with the sending country; where no such agreement exists, dual affiliation must be expected and budgeted into the assignment.
The answer to this question changes everything: it determines to whom you may entrust your payslips locally, and what you must ask for before signing. It has been verified country by country with the local authorities.
In Bolivia, running payroll on behalf of third parties is reserved by law to no registered profession: any company may take it on. The absence of a legal barrier shifts the checking onto you, and that is why the network itself verifies the registration, the tax and social security standing and the insurance cover of every firm before listing it.
Bolivian employment law is codified, formal and markedly protective of employees, and the administrative document often matters as much as the parties' agreement. A foreign company hiring in La Paz, Santa Cruz de la Sierra or Cochabamba first encounters a fragmented institutional landscape: health cover sits with the Caja Nacional de Salud (CNS, national health fund), while pensions are handled by the Gestora Pública de la Seguridad Social de Largo Plazo, the public long-term social security manager that replaced the former private pension funds. The Ministry of Labour, for its part, keeps its own employer register.
The country belongs to no monetary union. The boliviano is the currency in which wages are settled, and local exchange controls make payment in foreign currency impractical. Spanish is the language of contracts, payslips and every document filed with the authorities.
Running payroll for a third party is not a reserved activity; signing financial statements, however, is restricted to holders of a licence from the Colegio de Auditores o Contadores Públicos de Bolivia (CAUB), the professional body for auditors and public accountants.
Registration on the Registro Obligatorio de Empleadores kept by the Ministry of Labour conditions the filing of payroll schedules, and foreign employers frequently discover it too late. Without it the whole reporting chain stalls.
Nor does Bolivia offer any light-touch route to employment without a local presence: employer registration, employee enrolment and periodic filings all presuppose an entity recorded with the Servicio Plurinacional de Registro de Comercio and holding a tax identification number.
Enrolment happens in two stages, with the health fund and then with the pension manager, each having its own forms and its own deadlines, so neither enrolment can be assumed to follow from the other.
Drafted in Spanish, the employment contract may, depending on its type, need to be presented to the Ministry of Labour: settle that point before signature rather than after, since a contract already signed is harder to adjust to the ministry's expectations.
The employer withholds the employee's personal tax at source, and cash payment is poorly regarded by the authorities. Payroll schedules follow a Ministry of Labour calendar distinct from tax and social deadlines.
Termination is the most sensitive area of Bolivian law. There is no flexible equivalent to redundancy, reinstatement is a genuine outcome, and severance is computed on a length of service that must have been tracked from the outset.
The network asks 8 documents of any firm wishing to represent it in Bolivia. The table gives, for each of them, the exact wording in use locally, the body that issues it and the period during which it remains admissible. These are the terms to use in an application to the local administration.
Of these 8 documents, 6 are required of every applicant and 6 have a limited period of validity, the shortest being 3 months. 1 of these documents exist only in Bolivia and have no equivalent in the common core of the network.

| Servicio de Impuestos Nacionales (SIN) | No expiry Required | Official website |
| 12 months Where applicable | Official website |
The commercial register is no longer run by FUNDEMPRESA but by SEPREC, and pensions are no longer managed by private funds but by the public Gestora. Both shifts are recent: documents and procedures predating them still circulate, although they now carry no weight and should not be accepted in support of a file.
Beyond the statutory annual bonus, a further year-end payment may be decreed by the government depending on national economic performance. The cost is therefore not known in advance, cannot be budgeted from the previous year's figures alone, and should be provisioned cautiously.
The Ministry of Labour, finally, does not merely inspect: it registers employers, receives payroll schedules and intervenes in individual disputes. A provider who knows only the health fund and the tax authority is covering just part of your obligations, and the missing part is the one that generates most of the correspondence.
The network opens 3 partner slots in Bolivia, not one more. No firm is listed there yet: all 3 slots therefore remain open to applications.
No listed partner in Bolivia has asked to appear in the public directory. The contact details of a firm are passed on to the client only when an assignment is awarded.
Filing an application does not amount to admission: every request is reviewed one by one. There is no minimum turnover requirement, and the partner selected invoices its fees directly.
Submit an application: we review your file, we check the documents required on the ground and we give you an answer, whether it is positive or not.
The reference title in Bolivia is Auditor Financiero or Contador Público Autorizado, held by CAUB members. Since payroll is not a reserved activity this is not a legal requirement, but it remains the best available marker of competence. We ask for the SEPREC commercial licence renewal certificate for the current year, the tax clearance certificate from the Servicio de Impuestos Nacionales, certificates from the CNS and the Gestora, and above all evidence of ROE registration: that is what distinguishes a firm genuinely running payroll. The signatory's authority must be notarised.
Describe your requirement. No firm is listed in Bolivia yet: we review the request, then entrust it to a local firm that the network identifies and vets, or to the partner of a neighbouring country covering this territory. Your contact details are passed on to the selected firm alone.
Request a provider in BoliviaMobility is rarely arranged one country at a time. The neighbouring profiles follow the same outline.
These countries account for most of the requests received: each one has, in addition to its profile, six pages devoted to a single aspect of local payroll.
The information gathered on this page comes from the registers, administrations and bodies listed below, consulted when the reference base was compiled. It is given for guidance and does not replace the advice of a professional established in Bolivia.
